Tell Us a Little about Yourself and Your Photography Business
Hi, I’m Lauren, the owner and photographer behind Lauren Perrin Photo. I’m a Michigan wedding photographer based in West Michigan, and I specialize in documenting weddings in a way that feels natural, unforced, and deeply personal.
My approach is documentary driven with an editorial touch. I do not believe in stiff posing or recreating moments that already happened. Instead, I guide couples into movement, connection, and genuine emotion so their images feel authentic and true to who they are. My goal is always to tell the story of the day honestly and intentionally, while creating images that feel timeless.
Lauren Perrin Photo is a proudly all inclusive, LGBTQ friendly, owned and operated wedding photography business, and every couple is welcomed and celebrated exactly as they are.
How would you describe your photography style?
I’d describe my style as real moments, wild love, and honest storytelling.
I focus heavily on candid and in between moments, paired with a clean, true to life editing style that enhances emotion without overpowering it. I want couples to look back at their gallery and not only see what their wedding looked like, but remember exactly how it felt.
What is your approach when working with couples on their wedding Day?
Connection always comes first.
I take time to get to know my couples before the wedding day so they feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. On the day itself, I am calm, observant, and intentional. I provide direction when it is helpful and step back when moments are unfolding naturally.
Creating a safe, welcoming environment is a priority for me. I proudly work with couples of all identities, orientations, backgrounds, and family structures, and I approach every wedding day with care, empathy, and inclusivity at the forefront.
What Draws You to Michigan Wedding Venues Like the Felt Estate?
The Felt Estate has a timeless presence that feels both elegant and inviting. The historic architecture, natural surroundings, and thoughtful layout allow couples to fully experience their day without feeling over styled or rushed.
It is a space where moments unfold organically, which aligns beautifully with my documentary approach to wedding photography.
What makes you a good fit for couples getting married At our Estate wedding venue in michigan?
Couples who choose The Felt Estate often value intention, authenticity, and experience, which aligns perfectly with how I work.
I am mindful of preserving the flow of the day while respecting the space and the team behind it. I work seamlessly alongside venue staff and vendors to ensure the day feels smooth and enjoyable for everyone involved.
I also focus on documenting both the beauty of the estate and the intimacy of the people within it, ensuring every couple feels fully supported, represented, and celebrated.
What’s one peice of Advice you’d give to couples planning their wedding?
Focus on what truly matters to you, not what feels expected or traditional. The most meaningful weddings are the ones where couples give themselves permission to slow down, be present, and design a day that reflects who they are and how they love. When you prioritize intention over perfection, everything else falls into place.
What Do you hope couples feel when they receive their wedding Gallery?
I hope they feel seen.
Seen in their relationship, their emotions, and the way their day truly unfolded. I want couples to feel like their wedding was documented honestly, without pressure, trends, or expectations that do not fit who they are.
Most of all, I want their images to feel like home.

The Felt Estate is a nonprofit historic landmark and Michigan wedding venue located between Holland and Saugatuck along the shores of Lake Michigan. The estate features the magnificent Felt Mansion, a 110-year-old Chapel at Shore Acres, a Carriage House, water garden feature, manicured gardens, and the large West Lawn wedding reception tent. Beyond weddings, The Felt Estate serves the West Michigan community through historic preservation efforts, guided mansion tours, and seasonal public events that bring the estate's century-old story to life. Destination wedding packages and single-day wedding rentals are available from May through October, with on-site lodging for up to 24 guests and easy access from Chicago, Detroit, and beyond.
