 Nestled within the coastal dunelands of West Michigan, the Felt Estate is a nationally registered historic place, museum, and wedding venue with a story unlike any other — from its origins as the summer retreat of a Chicago industrialist, to a seminary whose graduates include Pope Leo XIV, to the community-led restoration that brought it back to life. Today it is a place of gathering, learning, and celebration, and we are looking for someone to help it thrive.

 The Operations Manager is, in many ways, the face of the Felt Estate. You will be the first person visitors meet, the voice that answers the phone, and the presence that makes people feel genuinely welcome. For many guests — school groups, history enthusiasts, first-time visitors — you will be their introduction to a remarkable story. You don’t need to arrive knowing every detail of that story; you do need to love learning it, and love sharing it.

The Role

Working closely with the Executive Director, you will manage the day-to-day rhythm of the Estate — coordinating tours and community programming, supporting volunteers, handling communications and social media, and providing behind-the-scenes support for fund development and data management. You will also collaborate with our independent wedding events team and coordinate with the Facilities Manager on vendor scheduling.

 No two days look quite the same. This role suits someone who finds energy in variety, takes pride in a well-run operation, and genuinely enjoys the people — visitors, volunteers, partners — who make this place what it is.

What We’re Looking For

•        Two or more years of experience in hospitality, nonprofit administration, or a related field

•        A warm, confident approach to customer service and community engagement

•        Comfort with social media and basic digital communications

•        Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and OneDrive

•        Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently

•        Enthusiasm for the mission of historic preservation, education, and community

•        Curiosity about local history and a genuine desire to share it — no prior expertise required
