The Felt Estate Historic Home and Gardens will:

  • Offer tours, programs, and exhibits portraying the cultural, social, and economic activities of the period, fostering the public's appreciation of the mansion's architecture and gardens.
  • Create a gracious atmosphere for lectures, recitals, meetings, weddings and cultural events.
  • Present a historically accurate portrayal of the Felt family - especially Dorr Eugene Felt - family man, citizen, entrepreneur, industrialist, inventor, horticulturist, and philanthropist.
  • Document the history of the Felt Estate and its artifacts.
  • Preserve and maintain the mansion and grounds to ensure its place on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Serve area schools and universities with focused tours and programs for children and adults.
  • Created seasonal programs for the purpose of enjoyment, education, research, and interpretation of the lifestyle of a wealthy industrialist of the early 20th century.
  • Continue to offer volunteer opportunities for the community, providing a sense of community pride, ownership, and efficacy.
  • Establish a network of historic homes in the area and beyond, sharing our own history and networking with other historians to improve and enhance our programs for the public.
  • Welcome the public into membership of the Friends of the Felt Estate which sponsors programs, encourages volunteer activities, and raises funds for the Felt Estate.
