Structural Detail

The original interior walls of the home are concrete (for fire protection). To determine whether a wall is original or an added partition, one need only to pound the wall!

Always concerned about the threat of fire, D. E. instructed the builders
to make the lath from steel and steel-mesh instead of wood.
The Slate roof, supported by steel beams and pre-cast concrete panels.
