Front View of the Felt Mansion
-- The portico is typical of a Georgian structure --
Now overgrown, this once held a view of the fields and orchards below
Rear View of the Felt Mansion
-- The rear faces Lake Michigan --
although the dunes block the view of the lake
The "S" on the inlaid crest stood for Shores Acres
-- the name D. E. Felt gave for his summer estate --
The balustraded balcony is typical of both Georgian and Beaux Arts styles
Two Youth Groups from area churches gather for a workday at the mansion
(This rear porch is suffering from vandalism as seen in the missing balustrade)
The arched windows on the front facade of the symmetrical wings...
...show the eclectic Beaux Arts influence popular from 1885-1930
The elaborately decorated inlaid panels below the upper story windows...
...on the front facade of the mansion also display the Beaux Arts influence.
