Legislators Building Communities Workday, July 11!

The Felt Estate Restoration project was chosen by the the Living in Michigan Coalition for this area's Legislators Building Communities project. (for more information, see http://legislatorsbuildingcommunities.org/)
Our workday for Legislator's Building Communities was Monday, July 11, 2011 from 8:00a.m. to noon -- followed by a free lunch. Many people came out to support the project - in spite of the rainy weather. We accomplished a lot - giving the entire interior a coat of paint and preparing the floor for refinishing.

Thank You to all of those who came out - and a big thanks to Representative Bob Genetski, our local legislator - for helping us make it a memorable and productive event!

Inspired by its architectural integrity and history, a handful of determined volunteers began the process of restoring the mansion to its original condition. We need additional volunteers to assist with tours and open houses, as well as assisting with the actual restoration. The restoration is a unique community project, in some ways as impressive as the mansion itself, involving many individual, student, group and corporate volunteers.

Are you interested in volunteering? We’d love to hear from you!

You will take away a sense of ownership and pride. When the project is complete, and the community has a beautiful historic home and gardens, you will have the reward of knowing that YOU helped make it possible.
